The NEW 2012 Rav4 is on it's way to Toyota Bountiful!
Utah's Premier Toyota Dealer
The RAV4 has been redesigned for 2012.
Introduction
Although the Toyota RAV4 is due for a full redesign for 2012, we don't expect it to grow much bigger or look radically different. Expect sharper creases and some chunky styling cues from the FJ Cruiser and Toyota's trucks. Under the hood, we expect the 2.5-liter four-cylinder and 3.5-liter V6 engines to carry over. The current 2.5-liter returns 28 mpg on the highway, so look for the new four-cylinder to reach for 30 highway mpg.
We wouldn't rule out a hybrid RAV4 at some point, but the bigger news is the return of the RAV4 EV. Powered by batteries and some powertrain components from Tesla Motors, the second-generation RAV4 EV will have a range of about 100 miles, Toyota says. The original RAV4 EV was last seen in 2003 and did little more than attract a cult following. Presumably, the new one will be much more mainstream.
We expect the 2012 Toyota RAV4 EV to go on sale next year. Look for the non-electric RAV4 to bow even earlier. With both models, we expect Toyota will be fielding a prime pick for a small crossover SUV. Check back for further details and pricing information as it's available.
