2022 Toyota Camry Review

July 23rd, 2022 by

The Toyota Camry has always been one of the highlights of Toyota’s catalogue. It has always offered the right mix of functionality, high performance, and luxury for a reasonable price. Toyota’s new Camry 2022 is available for sale, but how much of a Camry is it really? Let’s find out with a 2022 Camry review:

Features

Toyota’s new 2022 Camry is a part of the legendary midsized car’s 8th generation. It can seat up to 5 people; has 5 trims and 3 engine options. The TRD trim offers you quite high performance and as far as the appearance is concerned, there’s a Nightshade package to make it look even more eye-catching.

Engine and Numbers

The all-new Toyota Camry 2022 offers a choice of two gasoline engines and a hybrid one.

The base engine is a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder which produces 203 hp and 184 lb-ft. If you’re looking for more power, then the 3.5-liter V6 engine is also available. It produces 301 hp and 267 lb-ft. The 2022 Camry Hybrid features a 2.5-liter engine with 2 electric motors to produce 208 hp and 163 lb-ft.

Both the engines are paired to an 8-speed shiftable automatic transmission, while the hybrid gets a CVT. The primary drive setup is front-wheel drive, which is upgradable to an all-wheel drive system. The maximum 0 to 62 mph time for Toyota’s new Camry in 2022 is about 5.5 seconds.

The fuel economy figures are excellent for all of these engines. The basic engine gets you up to 28 mpg city and 39 mpg highway. Meanwhile the sportier V6 models get up to 22 mpg city and 33 mpg highway. The hybrid gets you 51 mpg city; 53 highway.

Interior and Technology

The all-new Camry 2022 comes with an attractive interior design that takes aestheticism and practicality into account. Not only is the build quality solid, but the materials used throughout will give you an upscale feeling. The headroom and legroom won’t bother anyone as well.

Other than that, the storage capabilities of this vehicle are quite competitive in the mid-sized class. There are enough cubbies, and the cargo room is pretty good. The rear seats fold down to increase the storage space. Even the hybrid with all its extra components won’t make you compromise on cargo.

2022 Camry LE

The base LE trim offers a lot of standard equipment for its price. You get remote keyless entry, dual-zone auto climate control, a 4.2-inch instrument cluster, and 8-way powered adjustability for the driver’s seat. The 7-inch infotainment touchscreen offers 6 speakers, along with Apple/Android capabilities.

The Toyota Safety Sense 2.5+ package adds a lot to the safety department. Standard features include a pre-collision system (w/pedestrian detection), lane departure alert and lane tracing assist, road sign assist, and adaptive cruise control.

Other than that, you also get the Toyota Star Safety System. This gets you Electronic Stability Control brake assist, and Toyota’s Smart Stop system.

2022 Camry SE

The Camry SE is a more sport-oriented model than the LE. Hence, it adds more to the exterior and the driving capabilities than the interior. A major standard offering on its interior are its Sport SofTex®-trimmed seats in the front, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel with paddle shifters.

2022 Toyota Camry XLE

The XLE is more luxurious, and it adds several standard comfort settings to the mix. For example, you get push button ignition, an electric parking brake, and a larger (7-inch) instrument cluster. The seats are leather-trimmed and heated; also, both the front ones are 8-way power adjustable.

Other standard features include a larger (9-inch) infotainment touchscreen, wireless charging, ambient mood lighting, and an overhead console. As far as safety is concerned, you get an integrated rear backup camera, an improved cruise control system and blind-spot monitoring (w/rear cross traffic alerts).

2022 Toyota Camry XSE

Like the aforementioned Camry SE, this model is also known for its sportiness and exterior changes rather than the additional standard features you get on the interior.

2022 Toyota Camry TRD

The TRD variant is the high-performance version and most of its changes are on the outside. On the inside, you lose a couple of amenities to make the car lighter. The rear seat is fixed, and the instrument cluster has TRD-based graphics. There are TRD logos and there’s special red stitching in some places.

The TRD trim is the most unique with its glossy front grille, special TRD-tuned suspension, black window tint, and its large front brake rotors. There is TRD badging and 19-inch TRD matte black alloy wheels. The Camry SE Nightshade has 18-inch black alloys, black mirror caps and window trim, and more.
