2022 Toyota Sienna Review

August 20th, 2022 by

The Toyota Sienna has been one of the leaders in the MPV class for more than 2 decades now. It has maintained its popularity due to its reliability, efficiency, and lots of practicality for family usage. The 2022 Sienna is said to do the same. The following is the 2022 Sienna product highlight.

The 2022 Sienna is a part of the 4th generation of the make. There are 6 trims and 1 engine option offered on it. The Woodland Edition is a trim that stands out as it built for more rugged usage. It should be noted that all of the trim levels are equipped well, especially in terms of safety.

Engine and Numbers

The Sienna 2022 offers a single powertrain option, which offers everything you could want from a minivan. You get a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine which produces 245 horsepower when it is connected to, and works in unison with 2 electric motors. The transmission available is an eCVT.

As seen above, the Sienna does offer a decent amount of power for the class, and this is sent to the wheels via a front- or all-wheel drive system. With the latter drive configuration, you can get a 0-60 mph time of almost 7.5 seconds, again one of the best in the category.

Moving on from the power, the fuel economy ratings are also top notch due to the hybrid setup. The FWD Sienna gets you 36 mpg for the city and highway. The AWD doesn’t make you compromise a lot with 35 mpg city and highway.

Interior and Technology

The Sienna sports quite a handsome interior which is extraordinarily spacious (can get roomier in the back with captain chairs). The material-quality is astounding, as expected from a modern Toyota, and so is the finishing. The color combinations suit it well, especially as you move up the trims.

The Sienna 2022’s practicality is at an all-time high and the ergonomics have been taken care of excellently. There are many adequately sized cubbies all over the vehicle and countless cup/bottle holders. The cargo area is also pretty decent for an 8-seating minivan.

2022 Sienna LE

Toyota have been very generous when it comes to equipment on the base Sienna. The standard amenities include tri-zone climate control, keyless entry, an 8-way power adjustable driver’s seat, a 4.2-inch gauge display, and an electronic parking brake.

The standard infotainment system is awesome as well, with a 9-inch touchscreen that has Android and Apple capabilities, and it is mated to 6 speakers. There are several USB ports and a power outlet, but we’re not done yet.

The Sienna gets Toyota’s Safety Sense package which adds all the latest driver’s assistance systems as standard. These include automated emergency braking (w/pedestrian detection), lane-departure warning (w/lane-keeping assist), and adaptive cruise control.

Apart from that, you also receive a blind-spot monitoring system w/rear cross traffic alerts, smart stop technology, and an integrated backup camera.

2022 Sienna XLE

It’s hard to one-up the entry-level LE, but the Sienna XLE still manages to do well, starting with its SoftTex seats and leather-covered steering wheel. Upgrades include Four-zone climate control, push-button ignition, heated front seats, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror.

Other than that, the infotainment system gets 2 more speakers and the safety department gets front and rear parking assist (w/automatic braking). And yes, you get a powered moonroof as well.

2022 Sienna XSE

The sporty XSE is considered a more upscale trim than the Sienna Woodland Edition mentioned below on Toyota’s official website, but it costs less and has less equipment. Either way, it adds sporty seat trimmings from SoftTex, and captain chairs in the back.

2022 Sienna Woodland Edition

The Sienna Woodland Edition adds more to the exterior and performance, but the cabin does receive some additional equipment. You get wireless charging for your phone, and a more powerful power outlet. The infotainment system is also upgraded as you get a premium 12-speaker JBL sound system with subwoofers. You also get more connected services’ subscriptions for free.

2022 Sienna Limited

Apart from the ventilated front seats (driver’s one gets memory function) and a larger gauge cluster (7 inches), the Sienna Limited has mostly the same equipment. However, it’ll give you a more premium feel. The seats and the steering wheel have leather trimmings, and the cabin features wooden accents.

2022 Sienna Platinum

Despite all the goodies that you’ve seen in the aforementioned trims, the Platinum model is the most upscale version of the Sienna. Apart from all the standard stuff mentioned above, it also adds a 360-degree camera, a heated steering wheel, ottomans in the 2nd row, and a 10-inch head-up display.

Exterior and Driving

The Sienna 2022 is easily the most stylish minivan available today. As per Car and Driver, it gives you the combined look of an SUV and an MPV. The wheel sizes range from 17 to 20 inches depending on the trim level you pick.

The XSE gets you a sportier look, plus sport suspension. Meanwhile the Woodland Edition is a bit higher off the ground and it comes with a towing hitch receiver. It is meant for those with a greater sense of adventure than your average Joe.

The exterior colors available on the Sienna 2022 are:

  • White
  • Midnight Black Metallic
  • Celestial Silver Metallic
  • Predawn Gray Mica
  • Blueprint
  • Sunset Bronze Mica
  • Ruby Flare Pearl
  • Cypress
  • Cement
  • Wind Chill Pearl

If you like a certain color, make sure that it is available for your trim with your dealer.

It should be known that the Sienna is a great vehicle to drive and it very comfortable on the inside. The sportier Sienna XSE makes the handling even better, while the Woodland Edition gives you a better performance on the trail.

Reliability and Warranty

The Sienna gets average predicted reliability from both JD Power and Consumer Reports, with the latter calling it “one of the most sensible vehicles”. In addition to this, the user reviews are also positive for the Sienna 2022.

As a further proof of its dependability, Toyota gives you limited warranty of 3 years/36k miles, a powertrain warranty of 5 years/60k miles, and a hybrid components warranty of 8 years/100k miles. You also get complimentary maintenance for 2 years/25k miles from Toyota themselves.

To sum it all up, the Sienna 2022 is one of the best MPVs today. It is reasonably powerful, very fuel-efficient, loaded to the max with standard (including safety equipment), and is very comfortable. You get 2 athletic trim levels as well. Finally, it also looks splendid on the inside and outside.

In short, if you want a modern MPV that is practical with a cool factor, get the Sienna 2022.
